Send big file
Send big file - Today, large businesses and multinational organizations
are thriving on instant client communication. Whenever some information
is required by clients, it is instantly sent to ensure not to lose them.
However, the problem occurs when enormous information has to be sent to
clients at the earliest possible time. It is not possible to send big
files with the help of a web mail service as such services do not allow
attachments beyond a specific limit. Some email servers won't even
accept an attachment of larger than 2MB while some others are limited to
just 1MB. Very few email service providers that are industry leaders
will allow you to send files bigger than 10 MB.
One solution is to ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for a web
site as many do offer this service on being asked. You can put the files
on that web site. However, there will be a limit to how much you can
upload to the web site a fact that renders such a service inefficient if
you want to send big files. Moreover, many ISPs will ask you to make
use of FTP. FTP is File Transfer Protocol which is a set of internet
communication rules that allow and govern the transfer of files between
interconnected computers. However, to send big files by using FTP, you
require a specialized FTP program, for example Cute FTP or WS_FTP. This
way you can transfer files to a computer located miles apart.
One major drawback of using FTP as a medium to send big files is that
you can lose your data. An unauthorized party may intercept with your
confidential information leading to unwanted consequences. Moreover, it
can take ages to complete the transfer process which is a sheer wastage
of time.
Then there is the concept of storage sites that are basically used for
backup but also allow you to send big files. All you need to do is to
share your user id and password with the recipient of the files. There
are numerous online storage sites out there offering paid subscriptions.
Some of them even allow you to carry out a free trial.
The latest development in the field of information technology intended
to promote safe and easy transfer of large files is forwarding sites or
file transfer services. Many of these sites also offer free trial for a
specific size of files. The process involves creation of an account by
the sender to upload up to 50 files at a time and mention the email
address of the recipient. The latter will receive a link in his/her
email id that will contain all the files. These files remain in the
server for a specific number of days that vary from service to service.
Some file transfer services offer yearly subscriptions which are not
very useful if you do not need to send big files on a regular basis. So,
it makes sense to use a service that offers a subscription of 15 days
that you can renew whenever required.
